Community First donates to South West Community Fund

27 February 2008
Community First Inc has donated $3,000 of its operating surplus to the South West Community Foundation to help community projects in the South West area.At a ceremony in Bunbury to mark the donation today, chairman of Community First Inc Board, John Gillingham, said while CFI was a Not-For Profit organisation, it did generate a surplus over operating costs to ensure its continued commercial viability and enable CFI to assist other beneficial community programs.

“The Board and staff of CFI are committed to putting funds accumulated in our community contribution reserve back into the local communities with which we interact.“Community First exists to make a positive difference through employment, training and community service. The concept behind the South West Community Fund is to build up a pool of money which can fund worthwhile community initiatives in the region, so every contribution helps make a difference.“As an organisation which operates in the South West, Community First wanted to acknowledge that it is interested in long-term benefits to the community. We hope that this donation will encourage other businesses and community organisations to donate to the Foundation as well,” he said.

Chairperson of the SW Community Foundation, Wendy Perdon said: “It is great to see organisations such as CFI get behind the South West Community Foundation. It shows a long term commitment to the region. The funds given today will continue to work as long into the future as the interest is distributed and the capital reinvested.”

The donation from Community First was accepted by Deputy Chairperson of the SW Community Foundation, Posy Barnes.
